Premier League: Who Can Qualify For Champions League And Europa League

The premier league is one of the most competitive leagues in the world. The league’s clubs usually compete in European competitions at later stages.

Their performances have made the Premier League’s coefficient to be strong. The clubs have also attracted many fans and punters on sportsbooks like Betway from around the world. English clubs have seven places reserved in the UEFA competition.

As the Premier League comes to an end, there are exciting matches as clubs fight for the coveted European competition spots. The stakes are high, considering the financial rewards in terms of participation money and sponsorship deals.

Who Are The Contenders For The Champions League Places?

The new Premier League Champions Liverpool and 2020 runners up Manchester City have already booked their places. Chelsea, Leicester and Manchester United are fighting for the remaining two spots.

Chelsea

Chelsea are ahead of the three with one point in the third position. With matches against Liverpool and Wolves remaining, they need four points to qualify.

Leicester City

Leicester is fourth in the table tied on points with fifth-placed Manchester United. The Foxes have a superior goal difference. They must win their remaining two games to finish in the top four. The two remaining matches are against Spurs away and Manchester United at home. The last day match promises to be a showdown that will give punters on Betway a hard time predicting.

Manchester United

United are fifth on the table behind Leicester on goal difference. They must win their remaining two matches to finish in the top four. The games against West Ham and Leicester are a must-win for United.

Europa League

Premier League teams that finish fifth and sixth qualify for the Europa League. However, if the FA cup winner finishes in the top six, the seventh team will qualify for the Europa League. Arsenal, who are ninth in the table are in the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

One of the teams (Chelsea, Leicester, United) battling for the third and fourth spots will end up in the Europa League.

Wolves

To qualify for Europa League, Wolves must win their remaining two matches. They must beat Crystal Palace and Chelsea.
Tottenham Hotspur
If Spurs win their remaining two matches, they can finish at least seventh. But, they rely on Wolves dropping points to avoid worrying who wins the FA cup.

Sheffield United

After losing to Leicester, Sheffield dented their chances of qualifying for Europe for the first time. Even if they beat Everton and Southampton in their remaining matches, they still depend on Wolves and Spurs to drop points.

Arsenal

Arsenal can only qualify for Europe if they win the FA cup. They are currently in ninth place. Three points separate them from sixth place. They have Aston Villa and Watford to deal with in the league.

What If An EPL Team Wins In Europe?

There are four teams still in European competition. Chelsea and Manchester City are competing in the Champions League while Manchester United and Wolves are in Europa League.
If Manchester City wins the Champions League, it will not affect the European slotsIf Chelsea wins and fails to make it to top four, then England will have five teams in the Champions LeagueConsequently, two teams will participate in the Europa League. The same applies to United and Wolves.
If two teams that finish out of the top four win the Champions League and Europa League(in this case, either Chelsea, United, and Wolves), only the top three teams will qualify for the Champions League.
