Chelsea have reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup after a 2-0 win over Liverpool at Stamford Bridge, and will now face Leicester City as they look to add to their cup collection

Chelsea have earned £675,000 from the FA Cup so far this season, but they can scoop even more in the coming weeks.

The Blues made it through to the last eight of the world's oldest domestic cup competition thanks to a 2-0 win over Liverpool in the fifth round on Tuesday night.

Their progress in this season's tournament has been fairly straightforward up until the tie against Jurgen Klopp's side, with wins against Championship sides Nottingham Forest and Hull City in the third and fourth rounds.

The reward for their fifth round victory over Liverpool was a quarter-final tie with Leicester City, which will take place at the King Power Stadium on the weekend of March 21.

And they have banked a fairly decent sum of money for their victories so far.

The FA Cup is a financial money-spinner for the non-league teams who start at the very beginning of qualifying, with vast sums available to them for the wins they pick up on the way - money that can keep clubs afloat for years to come.

For the professional sides, the money is not exactly life-changing, given the billions at the top of our national sport, but it can help.

For winning in the third, fourth and fifth rounds, Frank Lampard's side have banked £675,000, not to mention the gate receipts from their wins, which are always split between the two teams in the FA Cup, no matter who is at home.

And if the Blues were to go all the way and win this year's tournament, they would end up earning £6.795million from the tournament, which would boost Lampard's summer transfer budget.

Chelsea have already secured a deal for Hakim Ziyech in the summer for £34.8million, and are said to be targeting the likes of Timo Werner as well - so the extra money could come in handy.
